Michaelmas Brings School Together In Sunshine

The whole School came together on the front lawn on Wednesday, celebrating the first festival of the academic year in UK Steiner Waldorf schools: Michaelmas.

Actor and former pupil, James Cumming, played the part of St Michael; whilst each Class contributed in some way to bring the morning together, breaking bread together.
With many families choosing for their children to not have an online presence, Classes 1 - 3 sang St Michael's Harvest Song on the school lawn in their Class bubbles to share with the wider school community. Listen below.
The next festival the School will celebrate together is Martinmas in November.

Toddler Groups Rebooking For After Half Term

From after the Autumn Half Term, Toddler Groups will take place at Napier Road, EH10 5AZ - a stone’s throw away from Edinburgh Steiner School’s campus. Beautiful mature private gardens of a 19th Century villa offer an outdoor setting with fruit trees, a tyre swing and spacious grounds abundant with wildlife. Shelter from rain and wind is provided by a marquee and there is access to toilets.

The weekly session promotes a healthy lifestyle as children are taught from a young age that participating in daily exercise shouldn’t be prevented by the weather - an attitude they will carry into their adult life.

The morning is propelled by a strong rhythm and transitions are nurtured with repetition and reverence similar to a simplified Steiner Waldorf Seedlings and Kindergarten morning, with periods of alternating between free movement and play and adult led activities. The children can observe the Waldorf leader and their parent/carer in their meaningful activities while moving in and out of their own play much as they would do at home – a bridge between the familiar and the next stage, Seedlings.

Book now to begin after half term: edsteiner.org/toddlers
Monday's Group will continue in the natural surroundings at Colinton Dell, with a woodland walk and time spent on the riverbank.
Gift: A place on one these wonderful Groups can be given to family of a young child, as a birthday or Christmas present for a 1- to 3-year-old child. Autumn and Spring Groups can be booked from the drop-down menu: edsteiner.org/toddlers.

Polish Edinburgh Choir

We would like to share news about a newly formed Edinburgh Polish Choir. The Choir has recently started weekly rehearsals in Corstorphine (details in the poster), where everyone is welcome to pop in and see what we do. The music we sing is Polish, but the Choir is not excluding anyone and non-Poles who would like to enjoy our heritage are more than welcome!

This initiative is still very young and still careful to comply with the necessary Covid-19 restrictions. We are a small mixed, amateur choir and are looking for new members, with a shortage in male voices in particular.
